Costume guide

general guidelines

The Sith Dynasty is a Lucasfilm Approved costuming group and as such costumes must meet a certain standard before they can be approved for trooping with us.

That might sound challenging, but what it really boils down to is:

  • Costumes must be built with integrity and look professional.
  • Costumes must reflect components found within the Star Wars Universe.

There are few simple rules that will really help you when building a costume:

  • Use good quality fabrics and materials
  • Avoid anything like visible zips or fasteners that look too “Earthy”
  • If 3D printing, sand and finish so there are no visible print lines
  • Ensure there are no visible logos or branding

You are free to make or buy costumes however you see fit as long as you ensure it is of a high enough quality.

accepted costumes

The Sith Dynasty specialises in dark force users. As such we accept Sith Lords, Dark Force users, and their minions from across the Star Wars universe. (eg. Darth Vader, Darth Revan, Starkiller, Kylo Ren etc.)

Also accepted are custom made costumes of your own original characters, falling within those categories.

Sith Lords, Sith Acolyte, Sith Adept, Sith Assassin, Sith Juggernaut, Warrior, Marauder, Sith Inquisitor, Sith Sorcerer, or any Dark Force user aspiring to the Sith. [All Eras].

Sith Agents, Scoundrels, Scum, And Villainy: These characters include Snipers, Spies, Imperial Hands, Bounty Hunters, Smugglers, Pirates, and all non-enlisted parties loyal to the Sith, and those who are categorized as shady characters whose lives are less than……. above board. [All Eras]

* For the category” those whom are categorized as shady characters whose lives are less than……. above board”, unless if costume is canon within the Star Wars universe and backed by evidence of lore. All non-custom non-canon characters must display some marker and/or clothing display allegiance to the Sith. Parts from other characters (i.e. Mandalorian (no t-visor helmet and diamond crest chest plate) and/or storm troopers (no helmet) may be used as long as they do not overpower the costume to display such allegiance to the Sith.*

The Elite Guard: Crimson Guard, Shadow Guard, Imperial Knights, and all Elite Sith Associated Guard (including all Sith trooper variants (Sith eternal) from sequel trilogy (https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Sith_trooper), falling within this character description. [All Eras]

Most all era Military Characters including those of Sith Eternal (Sequel Trilogy) and Sith Empire (Old Republic Era) are acceptable. [Excluded eras are Prequel trilogy era, Original Trilogy Era (i.e. Galactic Empire), The New Galactic Empire and the Sequel Trilogy era (i.e. First Order with the exception of the Sith Eternal).

Dark Jedi Only. [All Eras]

Sith Witches and Night Sisters.

This is not an exhaustive list as new shows/games/comics come out frequently, but it is meant as a guide.

resources

The internet is a wonderful place for finding info on costumes and characters and the materials to build them with.

Costume References

One of the best resources out there for finding information on what makes a particular character’s costume is the CRL database of the 501st Legion. It is not a step by step guide, but it details each part of a character’s costume and whilst their level of detail is higher than is generally required for approval here, they are fantastic references and a great target to aim for.

The other place is to use google image search to look for as many images of the costume from as many angles as possible.

Recommended Vendors

One of the best sites for finding costume parts. Many vendors sell high quality items that are great for the level of costuming required.
As always, you get what you pay for. If you see a belt for £10 and another for £200, chances are the £10 one will not be good enough quality.

A fantastic site for lightsabers. Reseller of TXQ/VHC sabers with great service and some of the best prices in the UK.
